In accordance with the diverse training and cultural backgrounds of the members of the Vienna-based ensemble, the Central European Chamber Orchestra consistently strives for new forms of musical exploration.
The “Pulse & Aphex” project is an example of this: the pulse forms the connecting element between electronic dance music and contemporary ensemble works.
The ensemble presents a remix of film music by the legendary sound inventor Aphex Twin. The level of ecstasy as the fundamental drive of Aphex Twin and the omnipresent pulsation continues as reference lines in pieces by Fausto Romitelli, Sivan Cohen-Elias and Oliver Weber. The composition by Annesley Black and Simon Steen-Anderson forms the opposite pole – the pulse becomes diffuse and loses itself in new forms.
