Historical compositions are an inspiration and starting point for reflections. Mahler’s farewell from the “Lied von der ERde” will be played three times this evening. The first time in Rainer Riehn’s version, the second and third times altered and supplemented electro-acoustically. While the chamber music instrumentation lets the work appear in a new light, the electronic processes transform it into a kind of “installation” that includes the building as a body of sound. An event of the Arnold Schönberg Center in cooperation with ORF.
